Bristol Palin Just Cleared Up Rumors Surrounding Sarah’s Surprising Announcement

Even though Bristol Palin and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer will not be getting married later this month, the couple said they and their families will still be getting together and dismissed a rumor that has been circulating since the wedding was called off.

Bristol’s mother, former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska (R), announced on her Facebook page Monday that the couple’s wedding in Kentucky would not be taking place.

“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding,” the elder Palin wrote. “They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held.”

On Tuesday, she said that the two families would still be getting together:

They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held.

Many friends and family still look forward to getting together that day in Kentucky anyway – and the Palins and Meyers are happily looking forward to still being at “the old Kentucky home” on May 23 to celebrate life, in general!

Family members and close friends know they are welcome to share a great bar-b-que on the farm that day.

There has been some speculation that Meyer never informed Bristol about some of his past relationships. But on her mother’s Facebook page, Bristol brushed aside those concerns.

“Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about ‘secret wives’, Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement. Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers,” Bristol wrote.

As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency. Thank you! – Bristol

Meyer also took to his Facebook page Monday, stressing that he is looking forward to spending time with his fiance and her family:
