Dramatic Body Cam Footage Shows Why This Georgia Cop Is Being Called A Hero
A Georgia police officer is being hailed as a hero after rushing into a burning home to save a little boy.
Sergeant Joe Hudson, with the Griffin Police Department, arrived on the scene before firefighters and didn’t hesitate to enter the smoke-filled house when a woman informed him that her three-year-old grandson was inside.
The heart-pounding rescue that unfolded was caught on Hudson’s body camera.
The video shows Hudson struggling against the smoke and heat as he frantically searches the home for the boy.
After a brief, tense moment of searching, Hudson opens a door and finds the child laying on a bed. He grabs the boy and runs out of the home.
“Basic instinct,” Hudson explained. “I have three sons of my own. Soon as she said her little grandchild, I mean, I’m not gonna wait for the fire department on that one.”
Both Hudson and the little boy escaped without injury.
