NBC Cuts Ties With Donald Trump Over “Derogatory” Remarks About Illegal Immigrants

How many variations of the “NBC To Trump: You’re Fired!” headline will we see from the brain dead media?

Via The Hill:

NBC is cutting its ties with Donald Trump over the 2016 Republican presidential candidate’s recent remarks over immigrants.

“Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the network said in a statement Monday.

NBC also said it would no longer air the “Miss USA” and “Miss Universe” pageants on its network, which are produced with Trump.

The network has faced pressure to formally cut ties with Trump amid the controversy over comments he made at his presidential launch event earlier this month.

“They’re sending people who have a lot of problems,” Trump said of illegal immigration. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
The remarks prompted Cristian de la Fuenta, the Chilean actor scheduled to host this year’s Miss USA pageant, to quit. He described Trump as “a clown.”

NBC initially distanced itself from the real estate mogul, a longtime business partner, saying his comments “do not represent those of NBC.”

UPDATE: NBC caved in to the Diversity Brigade.

NEW YORK (AP) — A petition asking NBC to fire Donald Trump has collected more than 200,000 signatures.

Posted on the Change.org website, the petition calls out NBC of choosing business over “ethics, principles and values” in the wake of Trump’s recent statements when declaring his candidacy for president. Among his remarks, the GOP hopeful portrayed immigrants from Mexico as “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”

Last week, Univision, the nation’s largest Spanish-language network, said it wouldn’t air the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which are co-owned by Trump, and will cut all future business ties with him.

NBC responded only by saying the company doesn’t “agree with his positions on a number of issues including his recent comments on immigration.” NBC is co-owner with Trump of the pageants and is in business with him as host and a producer of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” A sister network of NBC is Telemundo, another major Spanish-language TV outlet, which aired the Miss Universe pageants before Univision won the contract.

“A large part of your audience is Hispanic and we watch NBC, NBC News and Telemundo,” said the man who posted the petition, Guillermo Castaneda, Jr., in addressing NBC. “How about looking out for us?”
