NYPD Officer Shot In The Head In East Harlem

A police officer responding to a call about a man with a gun was shot after a pursuit in Manhattan Tuesday evening. That prompted a massive law enforcement response and the shutdown of the FDR Drive. The cop was shot on or near the FDR, by East 121 Street, while pursuing the suspect.

Witnesses told Fox 5 that a gunman fired on police officers who were chasing him. One witness said she heard at least five shots.

The wounded officer, assigned to PSA 5 in the Housing Bureau, as been taken to Harlem Hospital. Sources told Fox 5 that the officer is in critical condition and a suspect is in custody. More
