Off-Duty Officer Shoots, Kills Burglary Suspect In His Family’s Home
CHOCTAW, Okla. — An off-duty Midwest City police officer reportedly shot a stranger in his family member’s home Monday evening.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. in the 1600 block of S. Choctaw Rd.
The officer was reportedly checking on his in-law’s home in Choctaw while they were away on vacation.
When he arrived, the front door was open and the house was a mess.
“He noticed that the front door was open. He made entry. He noticed the house had been ransacked as he made further entry into the house, and then the subject came from a room, he had a gun in his hand. The lieutenant fired shots, killing the suspect at the house,” Choctaw Police Chief Connie Clay said.
The number of shots fired has not been reported.
Choctaw Police has confirmed the suspect was dead at the scene.
