Patriotic Massachusetts High School Students Fight For ‘American Pride’ Dance

Patriotic teenagers in Lexington, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the American Revolution – denied attempts by school administrators to cancel an “American Pride” dance and replace it with a more inclusive event.

Lexington High School officials suggested that a “National Pride” dance take the place of the traditional red, white and blue event, so that other nationalities would not be excluded.

After an outpouring of negative feedback from students and community members, administrators decided on Monday to stick with the “American Pride” concept.

The students’ efforts to keep the patriotic theme is particularly fitting given not only Lexington’s proximity to where the American Revolution battles of Lexington and Concord took place, but also that the high school’s mascot is an American Revolution Minuteman.
