Hostage Uses Pizza Hut App to Call for Help

Authorities say a Florida woman escaped a hostage situation, thanks to a Pizza Hut delivery app.

Cheryl Treadway says her boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, used a knife to keep her and her three children inside the home.

Police say Nickerson initially took Treadway’s phone, but she managed to get it back under the pretense of ordering a pizza. Nickerson filled out the delivery form on her Pizza Hut app, adding pleas for help in the special requests and toppings sections.

She wrote, “Please help. Get 911 to me” in the special requests field. The extra toppings section read, “911 hostage help!”

Pizza Hut employee Candy Hamilton said she called her boss, who told her to call 911 immediately.

As deputies arrived, Treadway ran out with one of her children. Police eventually negotiated  with Nickerson to get him out of the home.

Nickerson is charged with aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment.
