Police Hunt For Active Shooter At South Carolina Mall Minutes After Polls Close In State’s Republican Primary Election

An active shooter was reported inside a South Carolina mall Saturday evening.

Officers from several precincts around Columbia are responding to the Columbiana Centre mall, according to WISTV.

According to tweets by the Columbia Police Department, reports of the active shooter came in shortly after 7pm.

WISTV said shots have been reported outside Dillard’s department store and a T-Mobile store.

Officers with the Columbia Police Department evacuated areas inside the shopping center and interviewed witnesses during the evening.

The reported shooting happened just minutes after polls closed in the state’s Republican primary election.

On Thursday, the Republican candidates gathered in Columbia for a town hall debate.

Roads in the vicinity have been closed and the public is asked to stay clear of the area. More
