VIDEO: Megyn Kelly Picks Fight With Ted Cruz… He Sets Her Straight Immediately
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was unhappy with a question on immigration posed by Fox News host Megan Kelly, and afterward shots were fired when he said he would expect to be asked that particular question by a “liberal journalist.”
“If you have a husband and a wife who are illegal immigrants, and they had two children here who are American citizens, would you deport all of them? Would you deport the American citizen children?” Kelly asked.
Ironically it was the same question that front-runner Donald Trump was asked on the cable news network Monday.
Cruz responded saying that politicians should first tackle immigration by focusing on issues of bipartisan agreement, including stopping illegal immigration and measures to “improve and streamline” legal immigration.
To which Kelly retorted, “But that doesn’t sound like an answer.”
“Well, what I’m doing Megyn is answering what I think Congress should do,” Cruz said.
Kelly has already come under fire from some for her interaction with Donald Trump during the first GOP debate, yet she still chose to press into a fight with Cruz.
“Listen, senator, I understand all that. And you’ve outlined your plan. But unlike you, you’re dodging my question. You don’t want to answer that question? He says he would. Donald Trump says they are all gone under his policy. What would a President Cruz do?” she again asked.
Cruz became noticeably upset over the continued pressure on the immigration issue and the tactics Kelly was utilizing.
“Megyn, I get that that’s the question you want to ask. That’s also the question every mainstream media liberal journalist wants to ask,” he retorted. “They focus exclusively on 12 million people.”
“Is it an unfair question?” Kelly shot back.
“It is a distraction from how we actually solve the problem. You know, it’s also the question Barack Obama wants to focus on,” Cruz said as he tried to steer the heat onto the Democrats — where it belongs.
“But why is it so hard? Why don’t you just say yes or no?” Kelly pressed again.
Cruz responded by saying that he would welcome the conversation and debate after the border is secured and Obama’s executive actions on illegal immigration overturned.
