Jake Tapper Destroys Broward Co. Sheriff (Video)

CNN’s Jake Tapper called out Sheriff Israel on the “State of the Union” on Sunday, questioning his leadership in the wake of the Parkland school shooting.

Sheriff Israel claimed that he’s shown “amazing” leadership as the head of his department, but Tapper was having any of it.

Jake Tapper got a little testy when Sheriff Israel got snarky: you won’t believe what the sheriff said!

Tapper pointed out that “no report was even initiated” on the shooter, despite multiple red flags being raised. “How could there not even be a report on this one?” he asked Israel.

The sheriff couldn’t answer the question, only offering that the officer responsible for the report is being investigated.

“Are you really not taking any responsibility for the multiple red flags that were brought to the attention of the Broward sheriff’s office about this shooter before the incident?” Tapper asked.

“I can only take responsibility for what I knew about,” Israel responded. “I exercised my due diligence. I’ve given amazing leadership to this agency.”

Tapper interrupted him, surprised. “Amazing leadership?” he exclaimed.

Israel placed the blame for the shooting on people underneath himself in the sheriff’s department.

“Maybe you measure somebody’s leadership by whether or not they protect the community,” the CNN host shot back. “In this case, you’ve listed 23 incidents before the shooting, involving the shooter, and still nothing was done to keep guns out of his hands.”

“I don’t understand how you can sit there and claim amazing leadership!” Tapper exclaimed.
