Krauthammer: You Could See Iran’s ‘Jubilation’ Over Nuclear Deal Framework

Charles Krauthammer reacted on “Special Report” Thursday night to the announcement of a framework agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

The deal was celebrated Thursday afternoon by President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, but Krauthammer noted the reaction of Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

“You could see what happened today by the jubilation in the face of the Iranian foreign minister when he announced what had been agreed to,” said Krauthammer.

Krauthammer noted that all sanctions – by the EU, U.S. and U.N. – will be lifted, perhaps as soon as June, which he said will “supercharge” Iran’s economy.

Krauthammer said that will strengthen the Islamic regime and give it tens of billions of dollars for its nuclear facilities and to be used in proxy wars in the Middle East.

Bret Baier asked Krauthammer about the administration’s claim that sanctions will only be lifted if Tehran complies with the terms of the agreement.

Krauthammer said Obama was “completely unclear” about what the requirements are for sanctions to be lifted.

He argued that it’s unrealistic for the administration to claim that sanctions can be quickly “snapped back” into place if Iran violates the agreement.

Krauthammer said that such an effort would be blocked by Russia and China and the U.S. would be “isolated” and acting alone.

“The most astonishing thing is that they’re not closing a single nuclear facility. Their entire nuclear infrastructure is intact,” said Krauthammer.
