Two men have been charged after a Gay Village memorial was reportedly vandalised.
City centre police were called to the Beacon of Hope memorial, in Sackville Gardens, at around 1.15am on Sunday.
This followed a report that the tribute tiles placed on the monument had been smashed and photographs of the deceased had been torn up and burnt.
Two men have been charged with criminal damage and bailed to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 24.
They are Alaa Alanzi, 23, of Kempton Road, Manchester, and Khalid Salah, 23, of Forest Range, Levenshulme.
