Oklahoma Gov. Fallin Working To Keep 10 Commandments Capitol Monument

Oklahoma Gov.  said on “Hannity” that she is working to keep the Ten Commandments monument at the Capitol, despite the state’s Supreme Court ruling that it must come down.

The state’s highest court said that the Ten Commandments chiseled into the granite monument are “obviously religious in nature and are an integral part of the Jewish and Christian faiths.”

Scott Pruitt, the Oklahoma State Attorney General, and Fallin are pushing to have the court reconsider the 7-2 decision.

Lawmakers in the state have also filed legislation to let people vote on whether to remove a portion of the state Constitution, which is cited in the ruling. The state’s Constitution bans using “public money or property for the benefit of any religious purposes,’ Fox News reported.

Fallin told Sean Hannity that she is hoping the legislature will address this issue during their next session.

She noted that the U.S. Constitution does not say “that we can’t have the historical monument on the Oklahoma Capitol grounds.”
