Security Guard in ‘Extremely Critical Condition’ After Being Shot at U.S. Census Bureau’s Maryland Headquarters

A security guard at the U.S. Census Bureau headquarters in Maryland was in “extremely critical condition” after being shot Thursday evening.

Reports on social media indicated a large police presence in the area. The ATF tweeted that they were on the scene helping with the investigation.

The Census Bureau released a statement on Twitter.

“There has been an incident at the Suitland Federal Center and there is an ongoing investigation,” it said. “We are committed to the safety of all staff who work at the Census Bureau and are currently making sure that everyone is safe and secure.”

“We will provide more details as they become available,” it added.

The shooter was thought to still be at large.
