Veteran’s Kids Wear Jackets With ‘VIOLATING’ Emblem, Now He’s Ready For War!
A Texas school is under fire after saying that a veteran’s children wore jackets with a “violating” emblem on the back and forced the kids to them take off. Unfortunately for the school, the father was a bit more than shocked to learn exactly what they were talking about – and now, he’s ready to go to war over it.
The incident took place in Aubrey Middle School in Aubrey, Texas after father Phill Rolen, who just so happens to be a veteran, sent his 5th grade daughters into school wearing “U.S. Air Force” branded jackets. Oddly enough, the school states that it “violates” their dress code.
According to the policy:
Sweaters, sweatshirts, or hoodies that advertise by name, symbol, or slogan any store/designer brand are not acceptable, except those containing ONE emblem measuring no more than 1.5” x 1.5″
This seems to be a technicality more than anything else because the U.S. Air Force emblem isn’t a “designer brand” by any standard, but that isn’t stopping the school from enforcing their policy.
However, Phill states that he’s not taking this one laying down, and he’s ready for a fight if the school should continue to force his daughters not to wear the jackets. “[Students] can wear anything with an emblem that is peddled and sold by the district, but apparently not anything with a military emblem,” he wrote in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.
The veteran father did point out that the principal of Aubrey Middle School, Karen Wright, was very polite, but she explained that if the girls wore the jackets again, they’d be punished with detention. Phill isn’t having any of it though, as he went on to note, “I said that my girls were going to continue wearing the jackets.”
“This just completely defies common sense,” he continued.
Although “the kids still say the Pledge of Allegiance over the loudspeaker every morning,” Phill is completely baffled by the school’s take on the matter. That being said, he next declared, “I am ready for this fight.”
Hitting his point home, he went on to say, “I will make it my personal mission to make the district the subject of every news media outlet in the country. The disrespect for our service branches here is amazing. Use common sense.”
There is no reason that school children should not be able to show support for our brave men and women in uniform, and the fact that some adults are demanding they not, really goes to show the state our nation is in today. Active military members and veterans are heroes – they deserve to be treated as such and should have our utmost respect. When it comes to crap like this, you might as well be spitting in their faces. Disgusting.
